Get to Know Your Orange Man: #24, WR Cooper Lutz

The freshman is one to watch for the future.

NCAA Football: Colgate at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Cooper Lutz

Position: Wide Reciever

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 190

Hometown: Reading, Pa.

High School: Berks Catholic

2017 stats: A running back in high school, he totaled 1,525 yards and 31 touchdowns as he led his school to a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class 4A District 3 title.

2018 projections: I’m not expecting much from Lutz this season for the Syracuse Orange. This should be a redshirt year.

How'd he get here?: He had offers from Army, Navy, and Columbia, but he turned them down to come to Central New York. Syracuse seems like a much less intense school than the others.

Money quote: He played in the Big 33 event in Pennsylvania, and talked about how that impacted his development heading to Syracuse:

“Coming out here, getting my real first transition to wide receiver, playing against the best in the state is pretty exciting. t’s the first step to the next level.”

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars from 247 and ESPN but only two from Rivals.

Twitterfeed: @coopaprob2

Tweets of wonder: He’s more of a retweeter than a tweeter so here’s one of the few ones he posted.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: The 2014 thriller, American Sniper, stars Bradley Cooper and was critically acclaimed by some. I’ve heard people rave about it and others hate it. Personally, it was just average to me.

Interesting nugget o’interest: His brother is currently a wide receiver at Penn State. Pass catching runs in the family.
