Name: John Sweetwood
Position: Defensive Back (Strong Safety)
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 170
Hometown: Montclair, N.J.
High School: Montclair Kimberly Academy
2017 Stats: At Monclair Kimberly, he had 50 tackles his senior year, with one pick, returned for a TD and a fumble recovery TD.
2018 Projections: As with the rest of the Syracuse Orange’s freshman walk-ons, I’m not really expecting much in the stat column. Let’s chalk this one up to a redshirt.
How Did He Get Here?: His parents dropped him off? Information is at a premium.
What Did Recruiting Sites Say?: No ratings on the major sites.
Money Quote: The closest thing he has to a quote is a Stephen Bailey tweet?
Walk-ons added to the Syracuse roster this morning:
— Stephen Bailey (@Stephen_Bailey1) August 2, 2018
WR James Cherry, Fr.
WR Andrew Licciardi,
DB John Sweetwood, Fr.
LB Jake Wright, Fr.
LB Terrell Bennett, Fr.
OL Ryan Kisselstein, Fr.
Twitter feed: Not sure if there is one.
Tweets of Wonder: See above.
What Movie Would Dino Recommend for Him?: Probably would go with 1950’s Cheaper by the Dozen, which is set in his hometown of Montclair, N.J. Though he could opt for the 2003 version starring Steve Martin.
Interesting Nugget O’Interest: Sweetwood also played baseball in high school. In 2018 he racked up a 0.386 batting average and a 0.583 OBP, including 4 HR and 20 RBI. Not too shabby at all.
