Name: Jarveon Howard
Position: Running back
Year: Freshman
Height: 5-10
Weight: 205 lbs.
Hometown: Columbia, Mississippi
High School: East Marion
2017 stats: He had an excellent year, tallying 1,508 yards and 21 touchdowns on 118 carries. He averaged an astounding 12.8 yards per carry and added 11 catches for over 200 yards and two scores. He also played linebacker and had 83 total tackles.
2018 projections: Don’t expect much this year from Howard. With Moe Neal, Dontae Strickland, and Markenzy Pierre, the Syracuse Orange’s backfield is already crowded. I see a probable redshirt season ahead.
How’d he get here?: He had offers from Tennessee, Memphis, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss among others, but he committed to Syracuse last January.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars all around!
Money quote: Dino Babers said that Howard was built like a rock this month — so maybe he does see the field at some point (we could use a rock or boulder running into the middle of the line).

Tweets of wonder: This is inspiring.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: The 2008 superhero movie that started it all, Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard. A great movie and one of my all time favorites. If you haven’t seen it, you should.
Interesting nugget o’interest: He is from the same town as Walter Payton. Syracuse would have a gem if he’s even half as good.
Let’s get a good look at ya: Here are some highlights from his electric senior season.
