Name: Carlos Vettorello
Position: Offensive Line
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 283
Hometown: Royal Oak, Michigan
High School: University of Detroit Jesuit
2017 Stats: Carlos was a starter on the offensive and defensive line for UDJ.
2018 Projections: Vettorello might benefit from the new redshirt rule as he could see some action this year. With a lot of experience in front of him, he’s not likely to crack the two-deep this Fall, but Dino Babers might have found himself a cornerstone for the future.
How Did He Get Here?: Carlos chose Syracuse over a plethora of P5 offers including the Boston College Eagles and Pittsburgh Panthers.
What Did Recruiting Sites Say?: Three stars across the board
Money Quote: Having tough, athletic players on the offensive line are always a good thing.
He was seen as a really good football player, a tough, well-schooled kid from a good program. What he did not get enough credit for was his athleticism, which his testing results showed. Syracuse came to U of D and stole Parris Bennett, and I think this kid is a steal too. - 247 Sports National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu

What Movie Would Dino Recommend for Him?: To stick with the Detroit theme, Dino’s going to recommend “Gran Torino”. The 2008 Clint Eastwood movie about a Korean War veteran who makes an unlikely connection and reminds us that sometimes you need to move past first impressions to see a person’s character.
Interesting Nugget O’Interest: Last July, Carlos released a top 6 which didn’t contain Syracuse. Clearly something about the Orange impressed him enough to push them to the top of his 20+ offers.
