Syracuse football recruiting: 3-star CB Garrett Williams commits to Orange

The Orange adds yet another defensive back to its 2019 class.

After a three-week drought of commitments to the Syracuse Orange’s 2019 football recruiting class, SU has now picked up its second commitment in just the last week. Garrett Williams, a cornerback out of North Carolina, announced his commitment on Twitter this morning:

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound product of Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg, NC is rated as a three-star recruit by the 247Sports composite and is ranked as the 177th-best cornerback in the country for the 2019 recruiting class. Syracuse was one of 13 Division I offers for Williams, who picked SU over the likes of Army, Air Force, West Virginia and Maryland, among others.

Williams becomes the 10th member of the 2019 recruiting class as well as the fourth defensive backfield recruit. He joins a secondary recruiting class that already includes Dorian Hewett, who gave a verbal to Syracuse on Saturday, Adrian Cole, and Cornelius Nunn. Williams is also the first member of the 2019 recruiting class out of the Tar Heel State, as well as the first Syracuse recruit from the state since Kingsley Jonathan (then thought to be named Jonathan Kingsley) committed to the Orange back in 2017.

Welcome aboard, Garrett! Highlights below:
