Get to know your Orange Man: #10, P Sterling Hofrichter

GIVE ME PUNTERS, OR GIVE ME DEATH

Name: Sterling Hofrichter

Position: Punter/Kicker

Year: (Redshirt) Junior

Height: 5’9”

Weight: 197

Hometown: Valrico, Fla.

High School: Armwood High School

2017 stats: Hofrichter continued the legacy of excellence in Syracuse punting. The Orange led the ACC in net Punting Average (41.3 yds) and pinned opponents in their own red zones 20 times to go along with 10 punts of 50 yards or more. Oh, he also went 66% on field goals, so that’s something he can do.

2018 projections: Sterling is already on plenty of radars, being named Pre-Season all ACC by the ACC Media, All-ACC by Phil Steele and to the Ray Guy Watch List, making up for last year’s snub. All in all, The Hof will be key to ‘Cuse’s success, as a less than dominating defense could use the longer fields, especially when conference play rolls around.

How did he get here?: The Syracuse Orange were the only team to offer, and we have reaped the rewards for others’ incompetence.

What’d recruiting sites say?: He was seen as a three-star prospect by most services, and was one of the top 10 kickers AND punters in the country.

Tweets of wonder: Let’s get serious for a second here. This is awesome.

Money Quote: Hof is about as even keel as it gets.

“(Hofrichter) never talks about how good he’s doing, he never talks about how bad he’s doing,” said junior long snapper Matt Keller, Hofrichter’s roommate. “He’s just confident in his abilities and he knows he’s good at what he does.”

What Movie would Dino Babers recommend for him? While not a movie, I think the entire boxed set of Fox’s Archer will do the trick. Danger Zone.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Sterling picked Football over soccer when the practices began to overlap. GET HIM ON THE USMNT, NOW!

Let’s get a look atcha: Because there’s nothing a Syracuse Punter can’t do, here’s Sterling talking about working out as a placekicker in Spring ball.
