Despite the fact that we’re in a recruiting quiet period, that won’t stop the Syracuse Orange football program from continuing to add to the class of 2019.
BREAKING: 2019 Canadian OT Matthew Bergeron has committed to Syracuse, multiple sources tell CuseNation. Story will be updated shortly: https://t.co/CrxtsPK1zi pic.twitter.com/QVzuZFf7F8

As reported by 247Sports’ Mike McAllister, the Orange added 2019 offensive tackle Matthew Bergeron on Monday. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound lineman is currently unrated by major recruiting services, but that’s pretty common for Canadian prospects. He’s from Quebec City — potentially making him the third Quebecois player on the team. While Patrick Davis (from Gatineau) is the only one on the current roster, Cegep Garneau teammate Geoff Cantin committed last month after the same June camp Bergeron attended.
According to Scout, Bergeron camped at Syracuse back in June, and I guess everyone came away impressed enough to get the commitment shortly thereafter. Bergeron has not received any other offers at this time (again, pretty common for Canadian players).
With Bergeron’s addition, that makes eight verbal commitments for the class of 2019 so far, and the second offensive lineman (along with three-star guard Anthony Red). He’s also the fourth offensive recruit for this cycle so far.
You can check out some of Matthew’s highlights below (and welcome aboard bienvenue à bord!),
