Get To Know Your Orange Man: #34, CB Eric Coley

MOAR SECONDARY PLAYERS

NCAA Football: Syracuse at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Eric Coley

Position: Cornerback

Year: (Redshirt) Freshman

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 186

Hometown: Manlius, N.Y. (though previously from Portage, Mich.)

High School: Fayetteville-Manlius High School

2017 stats: Coley redshirted last season.

2018 projections: Coley was not listed on the two deep for the Syracuse Orange on the spring depth chart. It’s likely that Coley will get his feet wet on the field this season as a part of special teams, but he’s unlikely to see time in the secondary unless some of the other defensive backs continue the injury bug that hung over them these past few seasons.

How’d he get here?: Picked Syracuse over offers from schools like Rutgers, Utah State and Dino’s old home Bowling Green.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Scout and 247Sports each individually gave Coley three stars before they morphed into one.

Money quote: Certainly like the sound of this.

“I feel like that’s what I was recruited for. I come up and hit. That’s my thing.”

Tweets of wonder: If anything goes awry on the football side, at least Eric has some hops.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: Wind back to “Talladega Nights,” where actor Gary Cole plays Reese Bobby, teaching his son Ricky Bobby some new tricks behind the wheel to get back into NASCAR.

Interesting nugget’ o interest: Eric’s stepfather is Syracuse defensive tackles coach Vinson Reynolds. We may never know why he chose the Orange...
