Get to Know Your Orange Man: #35, DB Kyle Strickland

The walk-on defensive back should continue to be a presence on special teams.

NCAA Football: Louisville at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Kyle Strickland

Position: Defensive back

Year: (Redshirt) Sophomore

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 177

Hometown: Roswell, Ga.

High school: Roswell

2017 stats: Played in six games, mostly on special teams for kickoff coverage. He recorded three tackles: two against Central Connecticut State and one against Miami.

2018 projection: Expect him to play a similar role for the Syracuse Orange in 2018, with perhaps a little more time on the field for special teams.

How’d he get here?: He did not receive any Division I offers out of high school, so he came to Syracuse as a walk-on.

What did recruiting sites say?: Nada.

Twitter: No Twitter :(

Tweets of wonder: Still the only tweet to ever mention Kyle.

What movie would Dino recommend for him: Continuing the trend of Kyle Chandler as his spirit animal on the big screen, 2018’s “Game Night” is a horror thriller that someone in Strickland’s shape is more likely to survive than his Hollywood Kyle counterpart.

Interesting nugget o’interest: His cousin is retired NBA starter Rod Strickland. More recently, his brother Cameron Marshall played outfield for the Davidson baseball team from 2014-2017.

Let’s get a good look at ya: Here’s an interesting video made about Kyle at the spring football game.
