Name: Devon Clarke
Position: Free Safety
Year: (Redshirt) Sophomore
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 186
Hometown: Kissimmee, Fla.
High School: Osceola
2017 stats: None. He was deemed ineligible to play for undisclosed reasons, suiting up in zero games for the Syracuse Orange.
2018 projections: Clarke is penciled in as the No. 2 strong safety behind freshman Andre Cisco after the shift to the full-time nickel scheme. I would expect the two to share plenty of snaps, or for Clarke to earn at least some real solid minutes this year. He had a very strong showing in the spring and should have helped himself out during the session.
How’d he get here?: He started out his recruiting process committed to the Beavers of Oregon State, but decommitted in May of 2015. He signed his LOI in February of 2016.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Consistently 3 stars.
Money quote: You might recall Clarke’s involvement in an incident on campus. Though he was reinstated to the team, it’s likely that transgression led him to be ineligible for the season. Regarding the incident, Coach Babers had the following to say:
“(I’m) disappointed, but I do believe everybody deserves a second chance.”

Tweets of wonder: Having some fun with the staff this year -

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him?: Adam mentioned Devon Sawa’s appearance in Final Destination last year. I would stick with Sawa, and think Dino would bring in the football influence, with the ever classic Little Giants from 1994 with Rick Moranis and Polk High’s own Ed O'Neill.
Interesting nugget o interest: Osceola High School, Clarke’s alma mater, is also the former high school of A. J. McLean, singer from the Backstreet Boys. It’s a stretch, but it’s interesting?
Let’s get a good look at ya: Big ol’ hit on Markenzy Pierre
