Name: Jeffrey Chan
Position: Kicker
Year: (Redshirt) Freshman
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 187
Hometown: Honolulu, Hawaii
High School: Punahou
2017 Stats: N/A — he redshirted
2018 Projection: Not banking on him getting involved this year, but you never know. If Sterling Hofrichter isn’t cutting it as the Syracuse Orange’s placekicker, perhaps the competition’s opened up a bit more.
How’d He Get Here? No Division I offers, but when fellow Hawaiian native Dino Babers came through with the preferred walk-on opportunity, he was sold.
What’d Recruiting Sites Say? Not much, which is still fine.
Money Quote: “I still love my islands,” Dino told West Hawaii Today last year.

Tweets of Wonder: Like I mentioned, if Hofrichter’s not working out as a kicker (not banking on that...), Chan could get a shot.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him? Disney Channel original “Johnny Tsunami.” The 1999 film shows a Hawaiian surfer move to snowy Vermont and apply his skills to become a great snowboarder. Don’t know if Jeff surfs, but Syracuse and Vermont do have similarities.
Interesting Nugget O’Interest: SU Athletics believes Chan is the first Hawaiian in program history. That’s pretty cool, if true.
