Name: Chris Slayton
Position: Defensive Tackle
Year: (Redshirt) Senior
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 320
Hometown: University Park, Ill.
High School: Crete Monee
2017 Stats: 28 total tackles (18 solo), 8.5 tackles for a loss with 1 sack. Started all 12 games.
2018 Projection: Slayton is going to be looked at to be the leader of the defense for the Syracuse Orange. He’s coming into the year as the team’s active leader tackle for loss, sacks and forced fumbles. Dino Babers is pretty confident Slayton will be playing on Sundays.
How’d He Get Here? The Chicago suburban native was a major target for Kansas, Illinois, and Missouri. After an official visit to Syracuse, SU jumped up the board for the defensive lineman. A few weeks later, he was in Orange.
What’d Recruiting Sites Say? Everyone gave him 3 stars.
Money Quote: Slayton’s not a big talker, so let’s let Dino do the talking:
“Slayton is an M and an N with an A in the middle,” Babers said this past week. “He’s the real deal.”

Tweets of Wonder: See the above about Slayton talking, same goes for his tweeting. But here’s Slayton showing off some mad strength.

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him? I’m going to say “Die Hard.” Slayton’s not the most experienced football player in the NCAA, but he’s put in the work to be a an absolute beast and tear up some men with bad accents along the way to an NFL draft spot.
Interesting Nugget O’Interest: Slayton never played football until high school, and when he joined the team, he wanted to be quarterback. It was when the coaching staff lined him up on defense that he decided to commit to being a lineman and take a shot at playing high level football.
Let’s Get a Good Look Atcha:
