Name: Colin Byrne
Position: Offensive Guard
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 300 lbs.
Hometown: Coral Springs, Fla.
High School: St. Thomas Aquinas
Year: (Redshirt) Junior
2017 stats: After starting in 2016, Byrne saw his playing time drop in 2017 as he moved to being a reserve for the Syracuse Orange. He played in five games with snaps at the guard position, including the Central Connecticut and Central Michigan wins.
2018 projections: Colin will be backing up senior Aaron Roberts (more on him coming on Thursday) at left guard. One would expect that he’ll get some snaps to spell either starting guard as he has seniority over backup right guard Dakota Davis.
How’d he get here?: After getting multiple offers from other schools (including former Big East rival Cincinnati), Colin picked the Orange.
What’d recruiting sites say?: He got three stars all around.
Twitterfeed: @Colin_Byrne77
Tweets of wonder: He linked to his Instagram in a tweet, so I’m counting this:
What movie would Dino Babers recommend?: Let’s go with “Any Given Sunday,” as Colin wants his chance to prove the backups can play and he can help the Orange day in and day out.
Interesting nugget o’interest: His high school coach, Rocco Casullo, is actually a Syracuse native.
Let’s get a good look atcha: Not a ton of recent videos, so here is previewing NC State in 2016.
