Get to Know Your Orange Man: #72, OL Andrejas Duerig

The big man gets even bigger as he hopes to compete for spot on the two-deep.

NCAA Football: Central Michigan at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Andrejas Duerig

Position: Offensive line

Year: (Redshirt) Junior

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 323

Hometown: Lowell, Ind.

High School: Mount Carmel

2017 stats: Duerig was all over special teams last year, playing in 12 games across the field goal/PAT unit, the punt team and kickoff team.

2018 expectations: Could be a lot more of the same — which is still pretty critical to the Syracuse Orange continuing to improve on the special teams front. SU’s starting offensive linemen are pretty set already and most of the reserves are as well.

How’d he get here?: Duerig picked an offer from the Orange over interest from programs like Toledo, Western Michigan, Buffalo and (potential 2018 access bowl participant) FAU.

What was he rated: He had three stars, and 247Sports saw him as one of the nation’s top 100 guards.

Money Quote: From 2016’s entertaining “Foe”-rensics series from the Key Play (prior to Syracuse upsetting Virginia Tech):

Alryk Perry and Andrejas Duerig moonlight at Renaissance Festivals”

Tweets of wonder: I’ll bring this one back from last year since it references one of the classic Adam Sandler films from when he was still funny.

What movie would Dino recommend?: “A Clockwork Orange” fits for a number of reasons. First of all, ORANGE, duh. Second, Carl Duering plays Dr. Brodsky in the film. Duering is close to Deurig. The names are both German. You follow what I’m getting at here, no?

Interesting nugget o’Interest: Duerig attended Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, the same school that produced Syracuse star Donovan McNabb.

Let’s get a look at you: Let’s roll that high school footage...
