Name: Ben Brickman
Position: Wide receiver
Year: Senior
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 172
Hometown: Albany, N.Y.
High School: Shaker
2017 Stats: No official stats, though did appears in last year’s win over Central Michigan.
2018 projections: Brickman’s a potential special-teamer, but is also a bit smaller so not necessarily someone you’re expecting to make stops on kicks/punts. Could be a hands team contributor.
How’d he get here? Spent two years at Hudson Valley Community College, then walked on for the Syracuse Orange in 2017.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Nothing, which is their loss.
Money quote: Brickman spoke to the Daily Orange last fall about his time with the Marines.
“I just thought, what would happen if I had to tell my parents that I failed, and tell my friends that I failed? I found a way and I pushed through it.”
Twitterfeed: Nope
Tweets of wonder: Here’s Ben in uniform, with an awesome pup (appropriately, for Syracuse) named Riley.
Honoring our 4-legged heroes who have selflessly served for our freedom on this #NationalK9VeteransDay! Proud to share this photo of Ben Brickman, @SyracuseU football player & @USMC veteran, and #K9veteran Riley! Thank you for your service! #K9VeteransDay @CuseFootball @Cuse pic.twitter.com/Zgc0EOfU35

What movie would Dino Babers recommend for him? There are plenty of films about the Marines, but one recent of the more recent ones is “Jarhead,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx, among others. It deals with the Gulf War and presents a more modern view of the military and combat (as well as life thereafter).
Interesting Nugget O’Interest: Brickman had never played football before arriving at Hudson Valley CC, which is pretty amazing no matter what level of college ball you’re playing at.
Let’s get a good look at ya: Here’s Ben in action at the gym, from before he was at Syracuse.
