Tyus Battle’s announced return wasn’t the only bit of good news for the Syracuse Orange on Wednesday. It was also announced that SU made the top 10 for 2019 five-star center Isaiah Stewart:
We are blessed and honored to be able to present New York states own Five Star General, Mr. Isaiah Stewart’s Top 10 List. @Dreamville_33 is a national priority in the world of college basketball recruitment. #WeoutHere pic.twitter.com/8XfZrSX7G8

From Rochester, the 6-foot-8 243-pound Stewart is a top-10 national prospect for 2019 and the No. 1-rated player in New York state, per 247Sports. After playing high school in Rochester these past couple seasons, he moved on to La Lumiere School in Indiana. Syracuse has been pursuing him for awhile, along with many of the other top basketball programs in the country.
Along with the Orange, Stewart listed out a lot of familiar names in his top 10: Duke, Villanova, Louisville, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Indiana and Texas were all there. Mike Hopkins-led Washington was as well. Stewart also included Georgetown, which was a kind and charitable act.
Syracuse currently has one commit for 2019 in Brycen Goodine, though he’d be filling a backcourt role. Stewart would obviously be addressing the Orange’s frontcourt, which doesn’t necessarily have a ton of players ready to contribute right away beyond Bourama Sidibe and Marek Dolezaj (at least at the moment), given Paschal Chukwu’s impending graduation after this season.
Highlights below for Stewart. While it may seem like a longshot, hopefully some magic can happen on the recruiting trail.
