Boeheim’s Army continues to fill out its roster as two former players from last year’s TBT squad join for the second year in a row. Both John Gillon and DaShonte Riley will link up with erstwhile Syracuse players in Eric Devendorf, Brandon Triche, James Southerland and Kris Joseph to compete for the $2 million, winner-take-all tournament.

With that, the roster is now up to six players and GM Kevin Belbey will have until June 1 to add at least one more player. With three guards, two forwards and one center, it wouldn’t hurt for Boeheim’s Army to add to its depth beyond seven bodies. Last year’s roster featured nine total players.

Gillon spent much of last season with the Erie BayHawks while Riley is spending his time producing music when he’s not playing basketball, per Donna Ditota. Before Gillon was with the Erie BayHawks, he did a thing one time.

He also dropped a James Southerland on NC State once.

The team of course will be coached by Ryan Blackwell, who had a pretty good year coaching the Liverpool boy’s basketball team to its second straight Section III title on their way to a 26-0 record, winning the New York State AA championship.

Boeheim’s Army will begin the path toward the $2 million grand prize in July, making its way down to Brooklyn to compete in TBT’s Northeast region. Since the guys made the Final Four last season the Army won’t need to secure fan votes — as long as one more player is added before the June 1 deadline it will qualify automatically.
