Ever since Coach Ian McIntyre took over the Men’s Soccer program, alumni from the program have started to make moves in Major League Soccer. Alex Bono has been one of the best examples of this. After being drafted by Toronto FC and playing a season on their USL side, Bono has become the first choice staple goaltender for the reigning MLS Champions.
Since becoming a Toronto regular, Bono has been called in to USA men’s camps, and now, the men’s national team.

As you can imagine, Bono is pretty excited.
Always an honor to play for my country! grateful that I’ve been called in again! pic.twitter.com/d2h3SaYakS

Bono has yet to play for the Stars and Stripes, but this time he may have a shot of real field action. In the USA release above, head coach Dave Sarachan says that “significant” roster changes will be made before the USMNT heads over to Europe to play in pre-World Cup friendlies. One would then imagine, this home friendly is a true testing ground game for many of the greener players, which Bono definitely falls into.
Congratulations Alex, and keep churning out the quality players Coach Mac and team!
