The early signing period is still eight months away, but it’s never too early for the Syracuse Orange football program to start adding to the 2019 class.
And SU got its first commitment for 2019 on Friday, when three-star athlete/wide receiver Courtney Jackson announced that he’ll be joining the Orange.

Jackson visited Syracuse back in late March, and Sean Lustig is his primary recruiter. Though the 5-foot-11, 160-pound Jackson has largely played wide receiver for Gateway High School in Monroeville, Penn., he could potentially be plugged in elsewhere too. But for right now, he looks like the latest inside receiver for the Orange as they continue to add speed at the receiver position (he currently runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash).
Syracuse is far from the only school to offer Jackson, either. Along with the Orange, he also holds offers from Baylor, Cincinnati, Kentucky, West Virginia and Temple, among others. He also had an unofficial visit at Penn State earlier this month, according to 247Sports.
Congrats to Courtney on the big decision, and to SU for getting its first commitment for this class. Some highlights below, for those that are interested as well.
