We don’t know who they face yet or what region they’ll be in — that information comes later in this program for some reason. But after a trying season that had no more than five or six healthy players at any one time, Jim Boeheim has this program back in the tourney.
Despite some concerns around “bad” losses (at Georgia Tech, at Wake Forest), the highs were enough to propel Syracuse forward. The 20-13 (8-10) Orange got in by way of major victories over Clemson, at Miami, at Louisville and Buffalo, plus a strong strength of schedule and passable enough RPI.
Making the NCAA Tournament is always a positive, and doing so when everyone else says you shouldn’t be there is extra sweet. Even if we lose in the first game, Boeheim’s ability to get this team to the Big Dance is quite the feat.
Enjoy the news for now. We’ll have a new story up once Syracuse’s eventual foe is announced.
