The Syracuse Orange football program added 18 new players for the class of 2018. Some of those players have better names than others, however. So we wanted to honor the additions with the most impressive monikers, both compared to the rest of SU’s 2018 class and the projected roster for this upcoming season.
First, your top five for 2018:
- Atrilleon “Trill” Williams, CB
- Andre Cisco, S
- Chance Amie, QB
- Cooper Lutz, WR
- Caleb Okechukwu, DE
“Trill” is the headliner for obvious reasons. While the word used to (and still does) mean a vibrating or warbling-type sound in music, it’s also slang for true/real. A trillion is also a lot of money (or a lot of anything). You could pretend there are a trillion Williams on the field for Syracuse -- in which case, we’d actually defend the deep ball.
Cisco and Amie are on there for music references -- for Sisqo (of “Thong Song” fame) and Chance the Rapper, respectively. Cooper Lutz just sounds like a future New England Patriot. And I’ve already made my Pokemon jokes for Caleb Okechukwu.
But where do these players rank in terms of 2018’s roster? Your Syracuse Orange All-Name team as of right now:
- Atrilleon “Trill” Williams, CB
- Markenzy Pierre, RB
- Moe Neal, RB
- Ifeatu Melifonwu, S
- Sterling Hofrichter, P
- Andre Cisco, S
- Chance Amie, QB
- Kingsley Jonathan, DE
- Cooper Lutz, WR
- Shaq Grosvenor, DT
