With some hot and cold play for most of the season, the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team hasn’t been raking in the awards from the ACC. However, the recent performance of Oshae Brissett seems to have been enough to get a weekly honor from the conference.

This week’s honor of the league’s top player went to Duke’s Grayson Allen. The co-rookie of the week was split between Brissett and Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter.
In his past two games, Brissett has averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 boards on near-56 percent shooting. For the offensively-challenged Orange, his ability to put the ball in the basket has been critical. He’s also been a force on the boards, and pulled down a team-leading 10 against Miami on Saturday while recording a double-double.
As a fan base, we’ve been hyping Brissett for months, of course. But it’s nice to see the stellar freshman getting his due from outside of SU fan walls as well. On the season, Brissett is averaging 14.7 points and nine boards per game while playing almost 38 minutes per night.
