News just dropped that West Virginia Mountaineers QB Will Grier will not play against the Syracuse Orange in the Camping World Bowl.
#WVU QB Will Grier will not participate in the 2018 Camping World Bowl vs #Syracuse and will focus on his preparation for the 2019 NFL Draft.

This follows the news that Yodny Cajuste would also be skipping the bowl game so the Mountaineers are already down two key players on offense. Obviously Syracuse fans have to be excited about this news but it’s disappointing we won’t get the Eric Dungey vs Grier QB battle to watch. It makes a lot of sense for Grier to not risk injury as he’s got the potential to work his way into the 1st round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Mountaineers will turn to Jack Allison a 6’6” sophomore from Florida to run their offense. Allison is 6 of 10 on the year for 75 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception and he’ll be facing a Syracuse defense which is 8th in the country in sacks with 38. Allison started his career with the Miami-Fl Hurricanes before transferring to WVU.
We’ll have more on the impact of these decisions as we continue to preview the Camping World Bowl.
