The TNIAAM team bounced back with a perfect outing in their predictions when the Syracuse Orange met the Arkansas State Red Wolves, and they’ll look to make it back-to-back games of perfection as the Orange take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at 2:00 pm in the Carrier Dome on Saturday.
Syracuse (8-4) will look to get some revenge on the Bonnies (4-8), as the Orange fell to St. Bonaventure last season when the two sides met. Let’s see what the TNIAAM team has to say about the final non-conference game of the season.

I can see Courtney Stockard getting his and keeping the Bonnies within reach during the first half, but Oshae Brissett and Tyus Battle are going to prove too much for the Bonnies in this one. Brissett is going to have his best game of the year, as he’ll position himself in the high post where he is able to score at a much higher rate. Look for Syracuse to try and attack the lane on offense early and often, as they close out non-conference play with a revenge-win.

The Orange have had a few days to continue to get the offense on track. I’d expect a couple of new wrinkles on Saturday as Syracuse looks to get Oshae Brissett going early and build his confidence. The next few weeks before classes begin will allow the Orange extra time to prepare for the ACC and they need to finish 2018 on a strong note.

This isn’t your father’s St. Bonaventure team (from a year ago) as the Bonnies are no longer equipped with prolific scorer Jaylen Adams. Syracuse should build upon its performance from last weekend and one week between games should serve the Orange well. I look for the defense to clamp down and for Syracuse to try to push the ball a bit more to get easy buckets on offense, something Syracuse tried to do against Arkansas State. This game might seemingly not mean much, but this is an important tune-up before the start of ACC play.

The Bonnies are a shell of last year’s senior-led team, so there will be no repeat performance of the late 2017 upset. Courtney Stockard gets his points, but the rest of St. Bonaventure struggles from the floor and Syracuse’s zone gobbles up bad shooting from the rest of the group. Tyus Battle leads the Orange scoring once again, yet it’s the re-emergence of Frank Howard that really propels things and makes the SU offense look a whole lot crisper than we’ve seen for much of the year.
