Welcome to college football’s early signing period for the class of 2019! The Syracuse Orange will be adding new recruits from Wednesday to (maybe) Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? The latest pre-signing period addition to the class, Andrew Tuazama.

Hometown: Knightdale, N.C.

Stats: 6’6”, 235 lbs.

Commitment date: December 16, 2018

Position: Defensive end

Ratings: Three stars from Rivals and ESPN. Nothing from 247Sports, however.

Other Offers: Tuazama was originally a 2018 prospect before going to prep school for a year, so he has some offers that may or may not have carried over from one year to the next. Among those: Rutgers, Miami, Ole Miss, Maryland and Florida State.

Player breakdown:

The tape above is split between his work as a tight end and a defensive end, but he’s an athletic and hulking presence no matter which side of the ball he’s on. There’s potential for him to round into a lethal pass rusher, as he has the physical tools to simply overwhelm blockers if he develops a little more technique (which can very easily come while at SU). Tuazama isn’t a candidate for playing time this coming year, but a season or two of development should pay off down the road.
