Early signing period: 2019 OL Anthony Red signs with Syracuse

Another big man brings his talents to the Dome.

Welcome to college football’s early signing period for the class of 2019! The Syracuse Orange will be adding new recruits from Wednesday to (maybe) Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? Big man Anthony Red joins SU from Connecticut.

Twitter Feed: @AnthonyRedJr1

Hometown: Oakdale, Conn.

High School: St. Thomas More

Position: Offensive Guard

Stats: 6’5”, 290 lbs,

Commitment date: June 17, 2018

Ratings: Three stars from the folks at 247 and ESPN, two from Rivals.

Other Offers: Before Red bulked up a bunch, he’d received offers from schools like Temple, Buffalo, UConn and UMass.

Dino’s projected nickname: Red Skelton? Redd Foxx? Am I showing my age? Whatever, they were both really funny.

Player outlook: Anthony looks to be a good addition to the offensive line. He was the third overall commit for the Orange in this cycle, and is sized decently to fit multiple positions in Babers’ system. His feet are relatively quick for a recruit and he seems to use his hands decently from what I can see. That said, he’s young and I totally expect a redshirt to get his body in shape for the rigors of the college game. The fact that we have the depth to be able to do that is an extremely promising thing. Red should be a good addition in what is a solid offensive line class.
