Welcome to college football’s early signing period for the class of 2019! The Syracuse Orange will be adding new recruits from Wednesday to (maybe) Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? A new addition from our northern neighbors, the big man from Quebec City, Matthew Bergeron.

Dino’s projected nickname: “Harrison Bergeron” (some may already know the Vonnegut reference)
Highlights:
Player outlook: It seems like everyone in Orange was quite impressed with Monsieur Bergeron coming out of the Syracuse camp in the summer. The staff immediately offered and he quickly accepted. There’s a lot of shakeup coming at tackle next year, but I see Matthew redshirting, putting a bit more muscle on his frame and figuring out the Babers offensive system, which I’m sure was different than anything he’s played in, and at 6’5”, 280lbs, he may even slide in to the interior. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him working at guard as well as tackle next year.
By the tape he turns he sits a bit high and lunges a bit, but those are standard high school lineman tendencies that Cavanaugh will work out real early in his tenure on campus. There’s a good bit of promise in the tape to mold. There’s also other elder statesmen that can teach and mold these younger linemen coming in as well. The future looks bright for Matthew Bergeron.
