Early signing period: 2019 LB Lee Kpogba signs with Syracuse

The one-time West Virginia commit has signed with Syracuse.

SBN Recruiting

Welcome to college football’s early signing period for the class of 2019! The Syracuse Orange will be adding new recruits from Wednesday to (maybe) Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? Former West Virginia commit Lee Kpogba, who helps the Orange beat WVU for hopefully the first of two times this month.

Hometown: Winston-Salem, N.C.

Previous School: Parkland High School

Position: Linebacker

Stats: 6’2”, 210 Pounds

Ratings: 3-star on 247Sports, 4-star on Rivals, 3-star on ESPN

Other offers: A ton of Power Five offers, including West Virginia, Florida State, Maryland, Tennessee and Duke (and many, many more).

Dino’s Projected Nickname: Taking directly from soccer’s Paul Pogba, how about “Pogboom.”

Highlights:

Player Outlook: Ryan Guthrie and Kielan Whitner are graduating, and as an early-enrollee, Kpogba will be in competition with upperclassmen Andrew Armstrong, Shyheim Cullen, as well as Juan Wallace, Tre Allison, and fellow early-enrollee Mikel Jones for playing time. Kpogba has heavily recruited out of high school, so obviously the skill is there, and now it is on the coaching staff to further develop his game. Likely, Kpogba will need to add some size to his frame, but will be given the chance to get some early playing time.

Kpogba is one of two Hickory State commits, joining CB Garrett Williams.
