#CuseTixForKids: We have a charity, and we’ve also topped $9,000

Your donation will benefit Sports 4 the Kids, first and foremost.

Day three of #CuseTixForKids is rolling along, as fundraising topped $9,000 around mid-day (ET). As of this writing, we’re at $9,125 exactly — or 63 percent of our total goal of $14,444.

As always, thank you to those that have been able to donate so far. And if you have, or haven’t, please send a link to your friends and family and tell them to join the drive to send underprivileged kids in Orlando to this year’s Camping World Bowl. Speaking of...

We now have our charity partner for this year’s event: Sports 4 the Kids, which provides sports & recreational opportunities for Central Florida’s financially disadvantaged youth. Unfortunately, their offices were broken into and vandalized over Thanksgiving weekend, so with luck, something like this at least improves spirits for an afternoon this holiday season.

Our original goal of $14,444 was intended to cover tickets, food and shirts for the game, but Syracuse University has kindly agreed to donate shirts, so that allows us to get more tickets covered for the kids. If we happen to have extra funds once tickets and food are paid for the Sports 4 the Kids recipients, those will send members of the Seven Rivers Pop Warner football program in Lecanto, Fla. as well.

I’m always impressed by this community’s passion for SU sports, but it’s even more stunning to see it put into a fundraising effort like this. As always, appreciate all of you and let’s keep driving to surpass our goal and give these kids a cool experience later this month watching the Syracuse Orange football team.
