If there’s one bright spot coming from last week’s Syracuse Orange basketball games at Madison Square Garden, it was the play of freshman point guard Jalen Carey.
In two games, Carey scored 40 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had 6 steals. That was enough to earn ACC freshman of the week honors.

As a Harlem native, Carey returned home and showed he could compete on the big stage despite turning the ball over. He was one of the few positive takeaways from the trip. Jim Boehiem noted that Carey played about as well as anyone could expect.
Carey and Syracuse will be back in action Wednesday night from the Carrier Dome. The Orange will look to right the ship against Colgate. That game tips at 7pm and will be streamed on the ACCN.
