Syracuse’s Eric Dungey named ACC quarterback of the week after NC State win

The reward for bowl eligibility and one of his best games as SU’s QB.

Despite a week which featured the loudest questions yet about his job, Syracuse Orange quarterback Eric Dungey showed up and then some on Saturday.

The senior (who could’ve had some help from brothers Dave and Ryan), had one of his best games at Syracuse while upsetting the N.C. State Wolfpack: 27-of-38 passing, 411 yards and three TDs, plus another 32 yards and a fourth score on the ground.

Dungey was rewarded for his efforts by being named the ACC quarterback of the week over primary competitor Ryan Finley, who lit up the SU secondary for more yards but also didn’t come away victorious.

It’s no surprise to see Dungey’s name on here again after the strong effort on Saturday was a huge part of the 51-41 win that sealed bowl eligibility for the Orange. It’s the third time he’s been quarterback of the week this year — the others being week one (WMU) and week four (UConn).

With a porous Wake Forest defense on the schedule for this Saturday, we could see another record day for the senior as he wraps up his Syracuse career aiming to grab as many records as possible. As you might have heard, he’s officially accumulated more offensive yards than any other player in SU football history now. And he’s also third in all-time rushing scores at the school, with 29.
