What’s college football saying about Syracuse after Week 8?

It wasn’t pretty, but does it matter?

Obviously the only website you read is TNIAAM. But did you know other websites also exist? And they have opinions about our football team, too!

Each week, we’ll take a look at what those other college football media sites are saying about the Syracuse Orange.

S&P+ Rankings (SBNation)

Syracuse moves up six spots to 52nd right between the Virginia Tech Hokies and San Diego State Aztecs. The Orange’s next opponent the N.C. State Wolfpack sit in the 34th spot. The computer numbers won’t give the Orange a great chance, but that’s why they play the games.

ACC Power Rankings: ESPN

Syracuse slides up one spot to 7th in the ACC rankings by ESPN one spot behind the Miami Hurricanes and the last part of this statement is really the most important.

Going to overtime against Pitt (a loss) and UNC (a win) doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence, but this team has plenty of weapons and is now just one win away from going bowling for the first time since 2013.

Syracuse.com’s Chris Carlson leaves the Orange 7th in his ACC Power Rankings this week while saying the key to rising lies with the Syracuse offense.

If the offense improves, Syracuse can leapfrog a number of teams in this tightly-bunched pack, many of whom rely heavily on their defense to win games.

If the offense doesn’t get more consistent, the Orange won’t score enough to compensate for a still-improving defense. Syracuse was better against the run against North Carolina but still surrendered a career-high 321 passing yards to UNC quarterback Nathan Elliot, who had totaled just 251 in his previous two games combined.

CBS Sports’ 1-130 drops Syracuse one spot down to 52nd right behind the Northwestern Wildcats and just ahead of the Temple Owls.

The Athletic pushes the Orange up four spots to 39th in their rankings this week right behind the Mississippi State Bulldogs and just in front of the Houston Cougars. The Athletic has NC State 25th this week.
