NewThis NFL season wasn’t necessarily the BEST for former Syracuse Orange football players. But nonetheless, several are taking part in the this year’s playoffs. Before the games get started this weekend, a guide for SU fans on who you’re probably rooting for from now through the Super Bowl.
Some of you might even be Bills fans. If so, sorry for your lifelong pain, and also congrats on your return to the postseason. Buffalo’s lone former Orange player is safety Shamarko Thomas, who joined the squad a little before mid-season but has contributed as a reserve and on special teams. The Bills’ first game is on Sunday at Jacksonville. Speaking of...
No former Syracuse players are on the Jags, however, Doug Marrone is the coach and Tom Coughlin is the EVP of football operations. “Saint Doug” has perhaps put in his most impressive turnaround job yet, and what better way to cap that than with Jacksonville’s first Super Bowl trip? Sure, it’s not incredibly likely. But the same could be said about nearly everything Marrone’s done as a head coach.
Cam Lynch rejoined the Rams back in November, and we’ll see how much he gets to play for L.A. when the franchise starts its first playoff game in quite awhile. The Rams kick off at the Coliseum on Saturday against the Falcons.
Nothing overwhelmingly Syracuse-related since Chandler Jones left. Though former SU grad assistant Matt Patricia is on the Pats staff through at least the end of this season (he’s up for several head jobs elsewhere). New England is the top seed in the AFC and won’t play until round two.

Who are you rooting for in these playoffs? And if it’s the Eagles, I don’t care.
