Boston College blog: BC Interruption

Rivalry: Not sure where John finds this info.

Current Streak: See above, John is in Italy and I don’t want to disturb him. I’m also too lazy to simply do a google search and I’m really pushing to get over 6 hours of sleep tonight. You’ll just have to live with this.

First Meeting: Way back in the 1958-1959 season, which was only Jim Boeheim’s 30th season as head coach of Syracuse, the then Orangemen took a 78-71 L to BC at the Jefferson Street Armory.

Coach Bio: Jim Christian was born in Long Island where he worked himself into becoming an all-state guard. He would then play collegiately at Boston University before transferring to Rhode Island. He worked his way up the assistant coaching ranks with stops at Western Kentucky, Saint Francis (PA), Miami of Ohio, Pittsburgh and then Kent State, where he would then earn his first head coaching gig. From there, he went to TCU and then Ohio before taking over at BC.

Last Year: Don’t want to talk about it.

Last Game: BC is coming off an 8 point loss on the road against Louisville. The guards did the heavy lifting for the Eagles, per usual.

“Fear Me, I’ve Killed Hundreds of Time Lords”: Take your pick of the BC guard trio, but it’s gotta be Jerome Robinson. He’s a dynamic guard averaging just under 20 points per and is an absolute stroke artist from three shooting 45.1 percent.

If Syracuse Wins: It’s to be somewhat expected and the win column is headed back in the right direction. Not overly impressive though and Syracuse is far from out of the woods.

If Syracuse Loses: Welp, it’s not looking good. Syracuse will have dug itself into a pretty steep hole.

Fun Fact No. 1: Syracuse is 19-6 all time at the Carrier Dome against Boston College.

Fun Fact No. 2: No Syracuse fan liked Jared Dudley while he was at Boston College. All factual.

Fun Fact No. 3: Jim Christian actually beat Jim Boeheim as a player at Rhode Island in the 1988 NCAA Tournament. Syracuse, a No. 3 seed, lost to Rhode Island, a No. 11 seed, in the round of 32 in Chapel Hill.
