Syracuse women’s basketball head coach Quentin Hillsman welcomed four new starters into his starting rotation this season. Three of those starters have earned league-wide and some nationwide recognition for their performances, up until today when the fourth and final newcomer earned her due for her productive week.

Orange forward Amaya Finklea-Guity earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors for her performances versus Miami and Pittsburgh. This accolade is the first of any kind in the Dorchester, MA native’s true freshman season.
The 2017 five-star recruit posted an 11-point, 3-rebound, and 3-block showing in the Orange loss at Miami. One of her best performances of the season came on Sunday versus Pittsburgh. Finklea-Guity posted a line of 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists on Sunday in the Orange’s big home win versus Pittsburgh.
Finklea-Guity is the second Orange starter to earn ACC Rookie of the Week honors this season. Orange forward Digna Strautmane earned the award in mid-December.
Finklea-Guity was rated as the No. 40 overall prospect in her class by ESPNW HoopGurlz. Finklea-Guity is averaging 7.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and is shooting 52.9% from the field on the season.
