For Syracuse, #BattleFace has been hiding in plain sight the whole time

The sophomore guard is creating a new standard for facial expressions on the basketball court.

Some people just have more elaborate ranges of facial expressions than others. But for athletes, it’s on full display to cameras (and thus, fodder for blogs like this one).

We all recall the wonder that was #CooneyFace during Trevor Cooney’s Syracuse Orange basketball career. There may be a new standard now, however, as Tyus Battle has very much cultivated a unique range of expressions all his own, with #BattleFace.

As we discovered going through the photo archives, it ends up the sophomore was very much an expressive player last year, we just hadn’t noticed yet. But this year, his game (on the court and on his face) have been elevated. Some of the best #BattleFace moments we’ve witnessed, since the start of last year:

The “I’ve (Potentially) Got This”

“The Other Guy Stopped Running That Blog?”

The “Someone Wants to Eat at Chipotle”

The “Precious”

The “What Do You Mean They Only Serve Bud Light?”

The “Double-Digit Leads Shouldn’t Be That Hard To Protect”

Any other #BattleFace images stand out to you? We’ll be keeping an eye out for more of these as the season progresses.
