We’ve been wondering about Antwan Cordy’s health all week following his early exit last weekend vs. Central Connecticut. Syracuse Orange head coach Dino Babers indicated on Thursday that he was hopeful he could play this week. But that will not be the case.

Spectrum News Central New York Sports Director Mark Larson reports that Cordy — who was in a cast with crutches, as shown above — has indicated he has a hairline fracture and will be out until the Clemson game. That’s five weeks out from this weekend. Cordy also indicated a hope to come back sooner.
That means Toledo transfer Jordan Martin will be starting at free safety today, and for the foreseeable future. SU’s more prepared to deal with a Cordy injury this year, of course. But it’s still not great to lose him for an extended period like this. The Orange will face a couple quality offenses in this stretch before he gets back. That list includes Middle Tennessee for sure, and maybe NC State too. Pitt’s a question mark, as is LSU (at least in the passing game).
