Former Syracuse Orange women’s basketball player Brittney Sykes was named to the WNBA All-Rookie team this week, after a strong first season with the Atlanta Dream.

As Syracuse points out in the tweet there, the former SU guard led all rookies with 13.8 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. She was also third in both blocks (0.5) and assists (1.9) per game.

Sykes was also named the WNBA Rookie of the Month in August — the second straight month she received the award. She averaged 17.3 points per game between August 1 and September 3, and scored in double digits in 10 of the Dream’s final 11 games. Sykes started 23 games for Atlanta this season as the Dream concluded their season at 12-22, missing out on the playoffs.

She ranks third In the Orange history books as the program’s third all-time leading scorer (1,846 points). Sykes was the seventh-overall pick of the Dream in this year’s WNBA Draft after being first-team All-ACC and first-team All-ACC defensive team in her final season with the Orange.
