Syracuse football now up to four votes in Coaches Poll

One more vote!

Week one of college football is in the books, and after an extended Labor Day wait the Coaches and AP Poll are out.

SU didn’t make the top 25 in either (not surprisingly), but they did get four votes in the coaches poll. Thats one up from the preseason vote! Nice. (but seriously, who’s logging these votes for the Orange?)

Also, here’s what Syracuse’s 2017 opponents did in this week’s rankings:

No. 3/No. 3 Clemson Tigers

The Tigers moved up two spots. Kent State was their victim over the weekend when Clemson took a 56-3 win. SU will see them October 13.

No. 10/No. 9 Florida State Seminoles

Down they go. The Seminoles were third before Deondre Francois went down in the fourth quarter of their loss to Alabama. Francois will be out for the season, so won’t be around when ‘Cuse comes to town November 4.

No. 12/No. 12 LSU Tigers

Up just one spot, the Tigers stomped on BYU 27-0 in the Superdome. LSU didn’t let the cougars cross midfield. Death Valley welcomes the Orange September 23.

No. 16/No. 17 Miami Hurricanes

The ‘Canes hopped over the Cards from the 18th to the 16th spot. They also took the week off against Bethune-Cookman in a 41-13 win. Yeah, FSU was the only team to play anyone decent so far.

No. 17/No. 16 Louisville Cardinals

Just a hair shy of Miami, Louisville actually had a contest. They beat Purdue 35-28 and moved down a spot in the rankings. Lamar Jackson threw two TDs and racked up 435 total yards.

Pitt got 19 votes in the Coaches Poll and one vote in the AP (where SU got none). Let play resume and ‘Cuse try to earn a vote or two. Maybe.
