Our first formal injury report of the year gives some clarity on absences.

While we know who plays and who doesn’t from week to week, without an injury report in non-conference play, it’s tough to tell who’s actually hurt.

Now that the ACC schedule has begun, the Syracuse Orange have released their first formal injury report for Saturday’s matchup with the NC State Wolfpack. That breaks down as follows:

OT Cody Conway

DE Kendall Coleman

DE Josh Black

WR Jamal Custis

S Antwan Cordy

DE Jake Pickard

Out for the Season

Conway and Coleman were the big question marks coming out of the LSU game, so it’s sort of a relief to see them toward the top of this list. Coleman left the contest a bit earlier on Saturday, while Conway exited late in the fourth quarter.

For separate reasons, Syracuse can’t really do without either for an extended period. Conway is the team’s best offensive lineman, and the Orange have struggled blocking for both the run and pass all year. Coleman, on the other hand is top-five on the team in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks.

As for the rest, we haven’t seen Jamal Custis since he injured his arm vs. Middle Tennessee, and Josh Black exited vs. Central Michigan. Cordy has already stated he plans to be back by the Clemson game, though we’ve heard very little on the status of Jake Pickard all year. The redshirt sophomore hasn’t played all season after participating in 10 games in 2016.

Anyone surprised? Fingers crossed at least one of Coleman or Conway can go vs. NC State.
