For the longest time, the Syracuse Orange football program had no idea how to schedule out ahead more than a year. But recent events — like filling up 2018 and 2019 already -- have changed all of that.
Still, forgive me for still needing some time to get used to the extra preparation SU’s taking here. They scheduled yet another future opponent today.

The Albany Great Danes will be heading to the Carrier Dome at an undisclosed date in 2021. This checks a lot of boxes for folks, as it’s an in-state program, they’re not SO terrible for an FCS team, and for me, it’s an FCS team to grab a likely win.
SU and Albany have never faced one another on the football field. The Great Danes have been rising in athletic prowess of late. And on the football field, they’ve been rising too. Albany has won seven games or more in three of the past five seasons. And (co-)won the Northeast Conference in 2012 before upgrading to the Colonial Athletic Conference.
That makes three games on the books already for Syracuse in 2021. Along with Albany, the Orange will play host to Wisconsin on September 11 and Liberty on September 25. Syracuse now has just three games left to fill to complete its schedules through 2021 -- something miraculous and exciting for long-time fans (or followers of our extended conflict with getting non-conference games locked in).
