Saturday’s Syracuse Orange loss displayed some issues worth addressing, and it seems the coaching staff is on their way to fixing them, if this week’s depth chart is to be believed.

Below is SU’s depth chart for this weekend’s matchup with the Central Michigan Chippewas. You’ll notice a few tweaks, similar to last week’s small adjustments here and there.

Calling out the big changes:

  • Jamal Custis and Devin C. Butler get an OR designation at outside receiver. Custis left the field with an injury vs. Middle Tennessee and Butler played the remainder of the game. Would expect Butler to get the start.
  • JUCO transfer Alton Robinson moves up to the second-team defensive end spot behind Kendall Coleman. In any case, you’ll see both players vs. CMU.
  • Cordy’s absence (which is likely the case until the Clemson game) is reflected for the first time. Jordan Martin gets the start at free safety, with Rodney Williams backing him up.
  • You’d assume someone else is entering into that safety rotation, since Williams is the reserve at both positions now.
  • No special teams changes, though really, Nykeim Johnson should be handling punts. Sean Riley’s still on the top line for both return spots.
