Name: Andrea Szmyt
Position: Kicker
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 190 lbs.
Hometown: Vermon Hills, Ill.
High School: Vermon Hills
2016 stats: He was 9-for-12 in field goals as a senior in high school. He set the school-record with a 48-yarder.
2017 projections: He will do a whole lot of watching and learning. Cole Murphy and Sterling Hofrichter will assume the booting responsibilities
How’d he get here?: He wasn’t recruited a ton or ranked by many sites. He talked to Louisville, Michigan State and Maryland and actually verbally committed to the Cardinals as a preferred walk on. He followed, Dave Boller, now SU’s director of player personnel and switched to the Syracuse Orange.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Khol’s Kicking camp gave him four stars, but no one else talked about him.
