Recruiting: Are Qadir White & Edward Hendrix leaning Syracuse?

One recruiting analyst says yes.

NCAA Football: Notre Dame vs Syracuse Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange have done some quality work on the recruiting trail this offseason, and there might be more good news to come, if we’re to believe one analyst. 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong sees two high-profile targets, offensive tackle Qadir White and wide receiver Edward Hendrix eventually committing to SU football.

Wiltfong wrote up a synopsis of Syracuse’s class so far -- which was pretty complimentary -- but the big takeaway was him upgrading both players to Orange leans in the site’s Crystal Ball predictions. Either addition would be enormous for this promising 2018 class.

White is a huge 6-foot-7, 334 pound tackle from the Bronx, where he attends Cardinal Hayes. The 247Sports composite has him just outside the top 300 players in the country. 247’s own numbers rank him as the 162nd-best player in the class. Regardless, he’s a top-25 caliber offensive tackle. He also has offers from all the top schools you’d want to see: Auburn, Georgia, Penn State, Miami, UCLA, Pitt, etc.

Hendrix, on the other hand, is a big receiver from Washington D.C. whos’s a top-100 pass-catcher and top-500 player nationally. He has his own long list of offers as well, headlined by North Carolina, Maryland and Arkansas. BC, Louisville, Michigan State, Pitt and a bunch of others are all there too, however. Lucky for us, we’ll know soon enough whether or not he’ll be donning orange (sort of). Hendrix is set to announce this weekend.

Wiltfong had other news too that he was upgrading Atrilleon “Trill” Williams in the site’s rankings and could see him being a four-star before this cycle was over. If that came to fruition, Syracuse could end up with three four-stars potentially for the first time ever in one class.

The other, obviously, is current class headliner Tyrone Sampson. The four-star center comes from Detroit and has continued to impress this offseason. he’s been pushing hard to bring other top names aboard for the 2018 group.

We all know these crystal ball predictions can frequently be off-base (how many times have we seen them go either way for SU?), but we’ll take the positive affirmation from Wiltfong here.

Excited? Cautiously optimistic? We’ll start to get a sense of whether these work out or not this weekend.
