The honors keep on coming for junior Syracuse Orange quarterback Eric Dungey. On Wednesday, he was named to the Davey O’Brien Award watch list, along with 29 other passers.

Presented by the Davey O’Brien Foundation, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award recognizes the passer who best exemplifies success, character, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership on and off the field.

Dungey is one of four ACC QBs to make this year’s watch list, along with Louisville’s Lamar Jackson, Florida State’s Deondre Francois and Duke’s Daniel Jones.

The honor is the latest one for Dungey, who’s received quite a bit of notoriety this preseason. Earlier this week, he was one of nine players to receive a vote for ACC Player of the Year. Last week, he was named to the Maxwell Award watch list.

In two partial seasons since taking over as a true freshman, he’s accounted for nearly 4,000 passing yards, plus 26 passing touchdowns -- both top-10 figures in school history already. Proving himself a dangerous dual-threat, he’s also added another 600-plus yards on the ground, with 11 more TDs.

Last season, his first in Dino Babers’s high-powered system, he completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 2,679 yards and 15 scores through the air (vs. seven picks). Dungey picked up another 293 yards and six touchdowns on the ground as well. And all of that was in just eight games or so.

Congrats to Eric on the latest honor here. We’re all hoping for a healthy season this fall.
