Last we checked in on former Syracuse Orange guard Andy Rautins, he was sporting a majestic beard while playing basketball overseas. Last night, his dad -- and fellow former Orange hoops star -- Leo Rautins shared a photo on social media to confirm that the beard remains a fixture on Andy’s face.
In the 15 months since we last examined his exquisite facial hair, it seems to have been shaped a bit more, taking on a neater appearance. It’s still a beard we should aspire to, however.
Other than his facial hair, Andy’s also been busy on the court in the seven years since he left Syracuse. He’s played for Gaziantep in Turkey for the past two years, and here he is being honored by the league (Basketbol Super Ligi). Before that, he played in Italy, Germany and Spain. Rautins bounced around the NBA D-League prior to heading abroad and even suited up for the New York Knicks for in five regular season games during 2010-11.
Andy, hope we get to see this beard more often in the future. You’re far from the only former Orange player with some impressive growth on your face, but yours may be the most surprising (and as a result, fantastic).
