After Monday’s Syracuse Orange football roster update release, we noticed that a few players were no present on the list. One of those was Jaquwan Nelson, who has been dismissed from the program. The other major absence was JUCO transfer safety Mykelti Williams.
According to a report from Syracuse.com’s Nate Mink, Williams will not be joining the program, unfortunately.
Mink received confirmation of the news from SU Athletics while attending the ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte. The reason for his failure to make it to campus has not been made clear, however.
Williams was originally a Notre Dame commit, but left the Irish program after just one season. He spent last season at Iowa Western Community College.
His absence from this class now makes it three assumed defenders that will not be on the field for Syracuse this year. Along with Williams and Nelson, defensive tackle Steven Clark is also no longer with the program, after being disqualified for a blood clots issue.
