The Syracuse Orange football program isn’t done adding players for 2017 yet, apparently.
Late Monday evening, kicker Jeff Chan announced he’d be joining SU’s class of 2017. The third-team all-state prospect will walk-on with Syracuse.
I am grateful to announce that I committed to Syracuse University. I am very excited and cannot thank you all enough for the support. pic.twitter.com/kIYHFxD0O8

Chan’s from Punahou in Hawaii. Dino Babers attended college at University of Hawaii at Manoa, which probably helped his case a bit with the Orange head coach.
While Chan will be the only kicker as part of the 2017 class, he joins a crowded group of them on the current Syracuse roster. Senior Cole Murphy is currently the only scholarship kicker, but also looked shaky at times last year. Scholarship punter Sterling Hofrichter has challenged him in spring for the starting kicking job, however. It’s also worth noting that Murphy was once a walk-on himself.
Additional kickers on the roster include redshirt senior Alex Grossman, sophomore Emerson Womble and redshirt freshman Nolan Cooney.
You can check out Chan’s highlights below. Welcome aboard, Jeff!
