Syracuse Orange football recruiting has already established some quality momentum this spring, and Tuesday’s news could potentially add to that.
Three-star Indianapolis linebacker Hugh Davis posted his top three schools on Twitter on Tuesday, along with a commitment date of Friday, May 26.
Davis will choose between Syracuse, Boston College and Cincinnati. Among those cut from the list: Indiana, Bowling Green and Western Michigan (and more). He’s also received some interest from Michigan State and Notre Dame, though hasn’t received offers from either (yet). Davis was on campus at SU for the SU Spring Showcase (spring game) back on April 20.
While Davis hasn’t hinted at which school he’ll choose in nine days, it’s worth noting that current Orange defensive end Kendall Coleman was a teammate of his at Cathedral High School. Davis is rated a three-star in the 247Sports composite, and to little surprise, received similar rankings on other sites. He’s a 6-foot-1, 210-pound outside linebacker right now, though could shift inside at that size.
Syracuse has received two linebacker commitments already for the class of 2018: Juan Wallace and Ja’Quirius Smith. If the Orange fail to receive any additional commitments between now and May 26, Davis would be the third or fourth defender added to the upcoming class, depending on how you count Atrilleon Williams. He’d also be the seventh player overall -- all of whom have national rankings attached to them.
Davis is a top-55/60ish linebacker in the country, depending on which service you ask.
