Jim and Juli Boeheim will throw out the ceremonial first pitches at Friday’s Syracuse Chiefs game against the Rochester Red Wings.
This is in response to the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ Jim Boeheim (No) Value Night after the Hall-of-Famer made a comment about why the ACC Tournament should be played in major media markets, not Greensboro.
"There's no reason to play in Greensboro," Boeheim said after SU’s loss to Miami in Brooklyn in March. "The only reason they play there is because the league offices are there, it's always been there, and there are like 150 people who like to have meetings. It should not be there."
The Chiefs will give away 1,004 shirts in honor of Boeheim’s career victories. There will also be a Jim Boeheim look-a-like contest and free admission to fans with a valid North Carolina ID.
Portions of Friday’s 50/50 raffle and ticket sales will benefit the Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation.
The Chiefs open up their season on Thursday at NBT Bank Stadium against Rochester at 2:05 p.m. ET.
